ABOUT WaterSHED :

WaterSHED is a dynamic organization based in Cambodia on the leading edge of market-based approaches in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). Our mission is to engage local enterprises and government to develop sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene markets and empower households to be active and informed consumers of WASH products and services.

WaterSHED pioneered the Hands-Off model of private sector engagement, enabling the sale of more than 125,000 unsubsidized household latrines to rural consumers. We developed a cutting-edge leadership program to engage local government in market-building activities, designed and launched the world’s first handwashing device manufactured for Base-of-Pyramid consumers, and incubated two leading social enterprises in household water treatment. Key focus areas include:

Market Development

  • WASH supply chain development

  • Enterprise finance & consumer purchase finance

Leadership & Empowerment

  • Civic Champions leadership development
  • Women’s Empowerment in WASH

Our breakthrough programs have been featured in The New York Times, Huffington Post and The Economist, and have been replicated in more than a dozen countries across South Asia and Africa.
